Crock Pot Crack Dip

I just got the cutest little slow cooker and I instantly knew I wanted to make crock pot crack dip with bacon, cheddar and ranch.

It’s the perfect size for hot dips and side dishes!

I love this time of year with football and snack food.

I’ve been chips and dip obsessed recently as you can tell by the creamy queso fresco dip, the baked queso fresco dip and the Mexican style crock pot queso I posted recently.

One of the best parts about dips is that they’re so easy to make, they hardly even need instructions.

Especially this one since you essentially dump all the ingredients in the slow cooker and let it do its thing.

However, I do have a few tips so this turns out as tasty as possible.

Firstly, I always recommend you shred your own cheese from a block.

The pre-shredded bags are convenient, of course, but they don’t taste as fresh in my opinion nor do they melt as well since they’re coated in anti-caking powders.

You can use white cheddar if you prefer a white queso dip.

Secondly, I prefer this dip with low-sodium bacon if you can get it.

It’s not essential, but if you’re sensitive to salty food I recommend it since the ranch seasoning is quite salty enough.

Not to mention salted chips if that’s what you’re using as a dipper…all the sodium adds up!

Lastly, a note about the ranch packet.

There were several options available at the grocery store and they’re pretty similar.

There was one titled “dressing and seasoning mix” and one labeled for dips.

I opted for the one with lesser sodium.

I also recommend starting with half a pack and adding more after the dip is melted if it needs more seasoning.

For dipping, some of my favorites for this crock pot crack dip include tortilla chips, ruffled potato chips, sliced baguette, butter crackers and broccoli florets.

You really can’t go wrong with any dippers!
