Instructions
Preheat oven to 400°F. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar and salt.
In a separate bowl, beat egg and combine with cream.
Using a grater with large holes, grate the frozen butter into the dry ingredients. Mix lightly to distribute. Stir in chocolate chips or other mix-ins, then add the cream mixture and stir until just barely combined. There will be some dry crumbles.
Turn dough out onto a floured surface and knead a few times until dough comes together. Roll or pat dough out into a disk ¾-inch thick. Slice circle into 8 even wedges. Place on an ungreased baking sheet, brush with cream and sprinkle with sugar, if desired.
Bake for about 15 minutes or until golden brown. Store any leftovers in an airtight container and rewarm before serving.
